The Sound of Music Now at BBDS!
We are excited to announce that today your child will have his or her first music lesson at Bright Beginnings Day School.
Research shows that learning the do-re-mis can help children excel in ways that will have a positive impact for the rest of their lives. Not that music will make a person smarter but according to experts music is beneficial for children ages 2 to 9 in a variety of ways including language development and social interaction. Not only that but music is just plain fun!
Your child’s teacher is Holly Zeilenga, a private music teacher who studied at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Holly will be teaching a 6 week session highlighting folk and traditional songs, as they are most helpful in emphasizing natural melodic expressiveness and the natural flow of language. She has been a musician for the last 17 years (she started playing her first instrument at the age of 7!) and has been teaching piano for the last 9 years. The goal of these classes is also to enhance the development of musical intelligence, singing skills, sensitivity to the beat, expressive movement, musical memory, preferences, and neurological connections. The classes she will be providing your child are based on the learning theories of Howard Gardner and Edward Gordon, who are scholars in early childhood music education. Holly says, “I love watching my students succeed, and l have found being a catalyst for growth within their lives extremely rewarding!” If you have any questions you can contact Holly at
